  FOREMARKE YOUNG ENGINEERS

With declining numbers of students contemplating engineering as a career, and the ever increasing threat from carbon emissions, Westfield is putting its weight behind an innovative green-powered scheme with pupils from Foremarke Hall School.

Recent race results for Foremarke’s Young Engineers show what impressive results can be achieved by harnessing, good teaching, enthusiastic pupils and a passion for racing cars.

At their first track outing for 2007, the Curborough Sprints on 17 May, Foremarke’s Greenpower sports car achieved first, second and third placing in its required six heats (2 x 1st, 3 x 2nd, 1 x 3rd).  This qualified them for a place in the final race-off, in which they achieved 3rd place.  A great day out for this young team of engineers, aged from 11 to13.

The team’s main regional heat will take place on 3rd July at Rockingham Speedway Circuit.  Full details will be published on the website.

Commenting on their success, Julian Turner, Westfield’s Managing Director, said “We are looking forward to assisting the school in building a more competitive car, whilst encouraging students to consider engineering as a career.   As a business we are firmly committed to the development and introduction of performance enhancing technology, both in terms of vehicle dynamics and the environment.
