Potenza Sports Cars Limited the owner of Westfield Sports Cars and GTM Cars has acquired a controlling interest in Roadster Bil AB the Swedish Race Support, Distribution and Sports Car Manufacturing Company.
Frank Turner, Chairman of Potenza Sports Cars commented that this acquisition would “enable the group to more effectively penetrate the Scandinavian and Eastern European Market, provide a platform to globalise the internet based Race Support Business whilst supporting the marketing of the Roadster Cobra inspired sports car. It will also enable the Group to utilise the expertise of Bo Jakobsen who has had an outstanding career in global supply chain management and procurement for the benefit of our customers, owners clubs and our shareholders”.
Bo Jakobsen will continue as Managing Director and Bjarne Bjurstrom, General Manager of the Saab race team, will remain involved as Senior Independent Director.
Bo Jakobsen said that this acquisition was good for Roadster Bil and in particular good for both Westfield and GTM.
It will enable the realisation of significant synergy benefits, facilitate the marketing of the Roadster Bil inspired vehicle and enhance the penetration of Westfield and GTM products into Scandinavia and Eastern Europe. Particularly important for the Group is the opportunity to expand globally the internet based Race Support business developed by Roadster Bil. In particular extending this strategy into Europe and increased development in the Motorsport business will enable Westfield to work closer with its dealers and race organisers which has already seen tremendous success in Holland and the UK. EDITORS’ NOTES:
Potenza Group was established to contribute to the improved corporate performance of its customer companies, and to benefit society through its approach to business. The Group realises this goal through four companies;
Potenza Technology - provides engineering systems modelling, and control development expertise using state of the art tools and techniques including rapid controller prototyping and automatic code generation.
Potenza Limited - catalyses personal development through in-company training, applied in a hands on manner to 'real' current operational issues.
Potenza Enterprises - assists in value creation through corporate support, realised through investment and direct involvement in non-executive and advisory board roles. Potenza Enterprises is the controlling investor in Potenza Sports Cars whose primary objective is to acquire and develop a portfolio of businesses in the niche sports car market, building upon the current British and historic contribution to motor racing and technology.
Westfield Sportscars Limited is one of the UK's leading hand built sports car manufacturers that is still British owned and family run. The company based in Kingswinford in the West Midlands, manufactures factory built sports cars some of which can be supplied in kit form.
Westfield was established by historic grand prix competitor and engineer, Chris Smith in 1983. In December 2006, ownership transferred to Potenza Sports Cars. Potenza is continuing the development and expansion of the business into new markets, with investment to meet ever more stringent legislation and Euro IV emissions compliance.
The company is researching and developing exciting new products including an electric race car. Westfield has sold over 10,000 cars world wide since 1983 and currently produces over 300 cars a year for driving enthusiasts the world over.
Models include the Sport, Aerosport and Aerorace, a new generation of minimalist road legal ultra modern sports car the XTR, and the reborn Westfield Eleven Sportscar that is based on the Lotus Eleven racer of the 1950’s.

Roadster Bil AB, based in the outskirts of Stockholm, Sweden, has been a Westfield dealer since late 90´s and historically a significant volume of Westfield production has been shipped to Sweden.This presents a significant opportunity for growth as the whole Scandinavian market opens up with the introduction of new legislation in April 2009. With the experience and contacts of Roadster Bil, a Cobra-inspired car has been developed and is now ready for its international debut.
The GTM marque was launched in 1967. Throughout the last forty years GTM Cars Limited has produced a string of new and innovative cars such as the Coupe and Rossa models which sold in large numbers. In the summer of 1998 the GTM Libra, a more up-market sports model with fewer compromises than those of previous cars was launched. In 2002 the GTM Spyder was launched.
